Most fit complaints come down to ordering from a size label rather than from a measurement. Sizes are not standardised across Pakistani labels, so the reliable approach is to know your own numbers and compare them against the chart on each product page.
What you need
A soft dressmaker’s tape, and ideally someone to help with the back measurements. Measure over light clothing, not over a coat or a heavy kameez, and keep the tape snug but not pulled tight.
The measurements that matter
Chest. Around the fullest part, with the tape level all the way round and your arms down.
Waist. Around the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the navel. Breathe out normally — do not hold your stomach in.
Hip. Around the fullest part, roughly eight inches below the waist.
Shirt length. From the highest point of the shoulder, straight down the front, to where you want the hem to sit. Measuring an existing kameez you already like is easier than measuring yourself.
Sleeve length. From the shoulder seam down to the wrist, with the arm slightly bent.
Reading a size chart
Where a chart gives a range — say a chest of 21 to 22 inches, which is a flat half-measurement taken across the garment rather than around your body — double it to compare with your own round-the-body figure, and allow a couple of inches of ease so that the garment is not straining.
If you fall between two sizes, size up. Taking a suit in is a small job for a tailor; letting one out is often impossible once the embroidery is in place.
